The U.S. Forest Service and the Asian Pacific American Employees Association (APAEA) invite you to use your creativity and design a theme poster for the upcoming Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (AAPI) in May. The winner of the contest will be recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation from the WO Civil Rights-Special Programs and will have the honor of his/her poster being displayed at the USDA Kick-off event in Washington D.C.
The poster will be printed, autographed by the Forest Service Chief or Associate Chief and displayed in the Washington Office. The poster will also be showcased at the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) National Leadership Training Program to be held in Washington D.C. in May. APAEA will work with the winner to schedule a mentoring session with a Senior Executive as well as post it to our website to commemorate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
Special Note: All employees/candidates are encouraged to submit an individual photo such as: the official USDA Identification card (copy) or FS action photo (business/professional standard).
2015 National Official Theme:
The design of the content is flexible, but should be linked to the theme:
“Many Cultures, One Voice: Promote Equality and Inclusion”
Details:
The size of this poster will be 11×17 inches (the size of the regular Civil Rights poster). The design of the poster needs to pay attention to resolution. Symbols, letters, and numbers should be large enough. Contrast between lettering and background is very important. The poster should be accompanied by a description of how the images and text relate to the theme (minimum of one paragraph). The work must be the original design and creation of the entrant(s) and may not include material in which a third party has intellectual property rights. Judges will look at creativity, clarity and the tie to the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month theme. The winner will be announced by early May.
Deadline:
Submissions need to be received by Monday, April 13th, 2015. Please email your poster in a JPEG or image file to apaea@fs.fed.us and feel free to contact us with any questions.
We look forward to seeing the products of your creativity!
